I confess I spent a long time researching the purchase of this projector as I was buying on behalf of a local community amenity society that has many invited speakers throughout the year. Increasingly our speakers have asked for projection facilities and this tidy piece of equipment delivered good light, contrast and silence! The last element makes for greater enjoyment in small spaces where loud fans can send you to sleep! So, all the reviews I read ahead of buying this projector were right. The simplicity of connection and automatic configuration makes this a dream to use. It seems to be worth shopping around for the replacement lamps that can be horribly expensive – although the promised lifespan of each lamp is reasonable.

Noticed a few reviews on here complaining that the image was too big! I have this HD projector mounted to my ceiling, about 10 feet from a 120" screen.

The Optoma DV11 shows exactly a 120" image onto this screen in 16:9 I & 16:9 II and in 4:3 native aspect.

There is a zoom function on the unit that you can turn to make the image smaller or bigger, to get the 120" image I have it set roughly in the center, if I turn it all the way up the image size is nearly 200"!!

Aswell as the manual zoom there is also a remote zoom built into the setup menu on the unit itself, this will increase that 200" to nearly 250" but this effects the picture quality.

I have used this to play DVD’s, iPod, computers & game systems and it has never let me down, I even brought it into my local pub for the Euro cup final connected to a Sky box (you get a scart adaptor in the box) and it went down a storm.

To get the most out of this system you will need to buy a good screen, people say that a painted wall works but it just does not do colors any justice, yes it can work ok but to get the best color a screen is a must. I bought a 120" screen from Ebay for £85.00 it is wall or roof mountable and operates via remote control.

I also have the HD projector mounted upside down on the roof, it keeps it out of the way and means I dont have to keep putting it away after I finish using it.

I have 2 kids and they love it, watching films like Spiderman and Ironman look AMAZING on this, I have a 42" plasma in the other room attached to a Blue-Ray player that cost about 4 times as much as the Optoma DV11 projector and the kids would rather watch the cinema HD projector.

The Optoma H700X is a stellar piece of equipment. I have a computer science degree, so I was quite maticulous in my search for a descent HD projector, and I have definitely found the right one. I have no idea why anyone would spend towards a grand for a 40-50inch tv when you can get a hd projector for less than half the price. I have my freeview box plugged into S-Video, and currently I am projecting at 90″ and the picture is pretty clear. My laptop is plugged into HDMI, and when I watch High definition movies, its like being in the movie with the characters, the picture is exceptional. Of course you can project it any size you like, and I had it to ridiculous proportions on a church hall wall once, and it was still good! There is plenty of diverisity in input options. The only down side would be the lack of an audio option, but thats not a problem if you own a descent set of speakers, you can find converters for anything! At £400 it will be hard to get something even close for a better price, I fully recommend the Optoma H700X hd projector.
